How to Use Our 1020 Deep Trays

Step 1: Set Up Your System

Place inserts, pots, or trays with holes/mesh inside the solid bottom tray. The deep design creates a perfect reservoir for water and prevents mess on your growing surfaces. This combo setup gives you both drainage and water retention.

Step 2: Fill Growing Containers

Position your pre-filled pots, cell trays, or mesh-bottom trays inside the deep tray. The solid bottom catches water runoff from your growing containers. This creates the perfect balance of drainage for your plants and water collection for efficiency.

Step 3: Plant and Water

Sow seeds or add transplants to your growing containers. Gently water with a light mist from above until you see drainage appear in the solid bottom tray. The reservoir catches excess water, preventing mess and allowing plants to take up moisture as needed.

Step 4: Bottom Water for Healthier Plants

Pour water directly into the deep tray reservoir. Plants will draw up water from the bottom tray through drainage holes, creating a self-watering effect. Empty excess water about 1-2 hours after bottom watering to prevent roots from sitting in water.
